Editors’ Notes On her 2017 debut single “Not a Love Song,” bülow wanted to communicate the excitement of falling for someone for the first time. And now that she’s had a taste, she wants it even more. Fresh from a Breakthrough Artist win at the 2019 JUNO Awards, the German-Canadian singer faithfully captures a snapshot of youthful abandon on her new EP. Whether she's calling out a guy for his smooth-talking ways (“Word Smith”) or confidently reclaiming her personal agency with no apologies (“FINE”), bülow shows a strength of character that she only hinted at on her double-volume EP Damaged. On “Get Stüpid,” she wants to lower her inhibitions even if doing so may come at a price. Crystalline is also musically adventurous—from warm coastal grooves to edgy trap beats, bülow allows herself to experiment as she processes these tough emotions in real time.
