EDITORS’ NOTES

The Dead Weather's third album seethes with paranoia, its buzzsaw guitars and jittery synths inducing anxiety at every pick and punch. Raising the blood pressure further, Alison Mosshart emits a snarl that mutates into unhinged bellows as Jack White pounds out his hefty Bonham-like beats—"I'm a bad man," she growls on "Let Me Through." Guitarist/keyboardist Dean Fertita mirrors her feverish attacks with stoner rock riffs and twitchy electro effects, turning highlights like "Buzzkill(er)" and "Cop and Go" into warped, dystopic psych rock.

Immigrant Song...

Ok fine, I'll say it. Doesn't anyone find it a bit ironic that Jack White accuses modern commercial background music, and the Black Keys for ripping him off, but the lead single from this album is a straight rip of one of the most iconic rock anthems ever? Pretty sure he's heard Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song". Anywho, I still like it all, and actually I don't even have a problem with it. Just had to say it, people who live in glass houses and all that. Let's just acknowledge one and for all, that unless you are an old man from the delta, please don't try and lay claim to inventing minor pentatonic riffing. Album well done.

Oh, yeah!

Jack White is a giant among dwarves. This single burns with intensity and makes me happy! Best single out! Album should be great… it's a heckuva lineup, and Jack White is consistently great.
