EDITORS’ NOTES

You don’t have to actually share DNA to have musical chemistry, but it certainly works for identical twins Pat and Cosmo Liney. After years of perfecting blissed-out dance beats as Cosmo’s Midnight (and remixing for the likes of AlunaGeorge and Flume), the Sydney-based pair use their long-awaited debut album, What Comes Next, to experiment with bigger ideas. Casual hookups, unrequited lust, and ill-advised rebounds are explored cheekily on ventures into hip-hop (“Lowkey” feat. Buddy and Jay Prince, “Where You Been” feat. Boogie), mellow, N.E.R.D-sampling trip-hop (“Montego”), and even jazz flutes (“Lovelight”).
