Heartbreak and lust, new wave style

This album has a special place in my heart. I grew up listening to Carly's early albums, and Boys In The Trees was one of the first albums I purchased with my own money. What makes this one stand out for me was that Carly added some rock and New Wave touches to the music. Jesse was the big hit, and I think the title song could have been just as big if given a push by her record label. I think many of us may have found ourselves in the situation described in that song, along with the excitement and risk that go along with it. Stardust, James, The Three of Us In The Dark, and The Desert are my other favorites. The rest are good. Them is the weakest track, although it touches on an interesting topic - what do our partners want and how do we react? Check this one out if you like the music of the early '80s and are a Carly fan.

My favorite Carly Simon album

These songs revolve around her relationship with James Taylor, especially "James." Just beautiful. And if you read her book "Boys in the Trees" (second favorite album, by the way), you'll understand the depth of emotion and love in these songs even more.
