It’s hard not to immediately love Coastline’s opening title track: Whether it’s Geoffroy’s smoky vocal, its plodding Balearic bassline, or its easy seaside disposition, the song is a perfect remedy for rainy days and bittersweet emotions. The Montreal singer keeps up the vibe through this debut LP of lush and lovely electro-pop. While some tunes, like “Trouble Child,” nod to darker ‘80s synth-pop à la Depeche Mode, moody soundscapes like “Raised by Wolves” and “Got Me All Tired” are richly produced showcases for his pained but gorgeous croon.
