Amazing album- first to last

Re-listening to this after purchasing "Before the Dawn," and remembering playing this album over and over and over when it first came out... what a powerful, beautiful, achingly sad, and longingly poetic body of work. I never had much of an opportunity to see Kate's visual performances since her videos never really got any airplay in the early days of MTV- so I can't comment on that aspect that of her, which may not have helped her mainstream success in the US. But oh the music! Her amazing voice that captures pure emotion and vulnerability- then shifts to a powerful roar and then back again to soft and soothing. No one like her- Not for everyone for sure but for those who feel it- she is amazing. Then there is the song writing and musicianship- some of her most powerful melodies and gorgeous orchestrations can be found on this album. Not as radically "out-there" as The Dreaming, or as sadly romantic as The a Sensual World or as commercial/ schizo as the Red Shoes- this is a tour de force. Brilliantly captured live in "Before the Dawn" now almost 30 years later- her voice just as powerful now- it's amazing how this music still captivates my much older soul.

I fell in love with Kate

I too listened to this over and over when it came out.. She made me long for a lass who burned and yearned like she could.. That voice the music the lyrical imagery a true original.. I would put my long blade ice skates on with my Walkman with the "hounds of love" cassette plugged into earphones and take off across the lake at night with only the moon reflecting off the snow.. I felt so alive, a cross between flying and dying... I need to do this again one day..-Jupitor

Those vocals. Those orchestrations. Those lyrics! What a triumph. What a journey.
