Beautiful and Traditional

For all lovers of Traditional Christmas Music, this is an amazing album. It's filled with warm and traditional carols. With Rick's rich voice and subtle backgrounds, it really gives a wonderful feeling of Christmas. The title track, Christmas With You, is dedicated to all the fallen troops who are serving our country. It hits home to anyone who has had to celebrate a holiday away from those they love. There are 2 instrumental songs in the album as well and give this album a little something different. I definately recommend it to all those who are looking for a little Christmas spirit heading their way.

A pleasant surprise

I have to admit, this Rick Springfield fan was somewhat less than enthused to hear that her favorite artist was planning on recording a Christmas album; it just didn't seem to be my man's style, you know? And let's face it, most Christmas efforts by rock artists tend to turn out more cheesy than festive. But I have to admit, this collection of traditional tunes is a welcome addition to my holiday music collection. The title track, an original tune written by Springfield with Derek Hilland, is a heartfelt and moving tribute to all who long for their loved ones at Christmas. Springfield's doo- wop version of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is delightful, the first treatment I've ever heard of that song that doesn't make me depressed. Two instrumental tracks also grace the album: a guitar-lead cover of "Carol Of The Bells" and a surf-music rendition of "Deck The Halls" which is marvelously fun.

In all, "Christmas With You" is traditional without being stale, fresh without being jarring. A fine addition to your holiday playlists.

Meaningful and beautiful...

Never mind the haters....Rick's voice is STILL magnificent, and it's magnificent not because of any recording tricks, but because of the heartfelt sincerity behind the song "Christmas With You." I love the fact that it is an acoustic guitar driven song and accurately and realistically evokes the emotions that someone far from home during the holidays might feel (such as the people who are currently overseas preserving our freedom.) There are other very nice selections here, too. My personal favorite is "Deck The Halls (With Boughs Of Longboards.)" It's a surf instrumental rendition of that song...and
just fun! Purchase this CD...you won't be sorry!
