EDITORS’ NOTES

One of the most groundbreaking things about the first Peanuts TV special is Vince Guaraldi's dazzling score. The San Francisco pianist was a key part of the West Coast cool jazz scene, and his graceful piano-trio arrangements sound as hip today as they did in 1965. From the winsome melancholy of "Christmas Time Is Here" to the sparkling joy of "Skating," Guaraldi captures the mixed emotions at the heart of Charles Schulz's characters. And don't forget the downright funky groove of "Linus and Lucy."

Fond Memories

Some of the fondest memories of my childhood was watching America’s favorite blockhead, Charlie Brown on tv. There was always something special about watching cartoons at night. I especially looked forward to watching this one year after year. This album is unforgettable, having all my favorite tunes from the show. Now when the holiday season rolls around, I have the pleasure of changing my ringtones to some of my favorite tunes from this album. Vince did a most excellent job, his performance is timeless.
