Fantastic 60's Choral Pop

Great pop songs are timeless- great melodies, musical hooks, and what makes this collection special: the choral arrangements. Many boomers got their hormones raging with songs like "Cherish" and "Everything that Touches You" because the lyrics and vocals reach a depth unheard of in music both then and now. We all sang along to "Windy" (didn't everyone know a "Windy" in their lives?) because it was near impossible to get the flutes out of your head! Of course, it all started with "Along Comes Mary" which was as big as any 60's anthem with the driving cowbell percussion on the chorus, only to be resolved with cascading jazz and tripped-out lyrics. The Beach Boys were probably a big influence on this group and the choral arrangements would have to make Brian Wilson smile at the intricacies. They could go from a "Feelin' Groovy" bounce to banjo folk and throw in some harpsicord which would not sound out of place in their full spectrum experience. But they always kept the voices front and center. This band did great work - long live their memories.

Yes, memories

My first album: I mean the first of any music that I ever purchased with my money. I played it hours on end. (Even caught Dad humming "Cherish.") I played it for my first girl (still remember Karen Hagerty). The Association is still one of my top groups. Even listening to the little 30 seconds here makes me nostalgic. Played "Never My Love" at my wedding, for my wife. And "Requiem For the Masses" fueled my political stances, even to this day.

Anyway, for any romantic fool, this should be a part of the Library, to play for the important person next to you.
