EDITORS’ NOTES

Country singer Steve Holy took six years to finish his sophomore album, but for fans of his richly tenor toned vocals, the wait was worth it. Brand New Girlfriend isn't a departure from 2000's Blue Moon. Holy charges out of the gate with a sidesplitting title track that blends boozy honky-tonk twang with a line-dance friendly rhythm and hilarious lyrics making for a memorable hit giving Holy his second Number One single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. "Come On Rain" downshifts to remind folks that Holy can belt out ballads like he was born to play the heartstrings. "A Cliff In Colorado" is another incredibly moving ballad with an engrossing narrative about a love so strong between two people that it still thrives in the afterlife. He humorously explores life's ongoing battles of the sexes with the catchy "Men Buy The Drinks (Girls Call the Shots)," but it's his cover of "All for The Love of Sunshine" that makes for the best of the two bonus tracks included here. If the song sounds familiar, consider yourself old school – Hank Williams Jr. had a hit with it in 1970.
