11 Songs, 51 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

To make their second album, Sydney trio RÜFÜS DU SOL decided to get out of their comfort zone: They relocated to Berlin, immersed themselves in club music, and came away with a record deeper than anything they’d done before. While it’s still got festival-ready moments (“Like an Animal,” “You Were Right,” “Say a Prayer for Me”), the jewel in Bloom's crown is its languid closer, a track that lands somewhere between trance and deep house. “Innerbloom” unfurls over almost 10 minutes, as vocalist Tyrone Lindqvist coos and pledges devotion to an absent lover. It’s hypnotic and, like much of RÜFÜS’ music, a little bit melancholy.
