From beginning to end, this album challenges listeners to see the truth about the dark side of being black and the dark side of the gospel. When I hear songs like Black Out I hearing an alarming call to action. Pray It Up reminds me of the importance of staying in a posture of prayer as I’m facing the many ups and downs of this life. Black Bold and Beautiful makes me feel loved, appreciated, respected, and seem accurately. Somebody Loves Me shows me how even if no one else in this world knows how to love me, God does and He really wants to! There’s so much peace, comfort, and validation in that! Shuck and Jive gets me HYPE!!! Stop tap dancing and performing for folks and be who God called you to be, even if they don’t like it! God blesses who you are, not who you pretend to be! As you can see, I can go on and on about every song. This is that music that’s very real and you still would be comfortable hearing your children repeat the lyrics because they give us LIFE!
