A Highlight in Gothic Metal

This is how you do true gothic metal. I can't find a single flaw in this this album. Everything about it is absolutely perfect, mixing extremely foreboding heavy music, vicious growls, the angelic vocals of Vibeke Stene, and the simply beautiful poetic lyrics. The whole album fills you with a sense of strange nostalgia and it sets you in a very dark gothic atmosphere with its creeping moroseness, unique writing, and choirs. Each song is addicting and unique in its own way and they all never fail to send shivers up your spine. I'd say the highlights in this album are: The very romantic, yet heavy "Aphelion", the absolutely beautiful "A Sequel of Decay" (I love those monk church choirs), the very creepy and extremely dark "Opus Relinque", the atmospheric and absolutely epic "...Of Ruins and A Red Nightfall", and the brooding dark male-dominated song, "Heretique." If you are a gothic metal fan, or a metal fan in general, this is one that you'll not want to set aside.

Usually,I'm not a fan of the newer metal styles as I'm stuck in the more classic doom metal mode but I may download this and experiment with this I can sense it growing on me over time. Not committed to being a completes and buying every thing they've done but from what I heard it's decent enough for my listening pleasure.
