Beverly Hills Cop (Music From the Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Various Artists
It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the biggest-selling soundtrack of 1985 was loaded with toe-tapping hits from some of the year's hottest acts. Mixing genres while keeping the beat bumping, the album packs plenty of raucous R&B joy from Patti LaBelle's sassy "New Attitude," wailin' sax and guitar riffs from Glenn Frey's "The Heat Is On," and Middle Eastern-inflected bounce from Danny Elfman's "Gratitude." All this plus the most memorable track of all: Harold Faltermeyer's synthstrumental "Axel F."
