Favorite Christmas Album

Just absolutely one of the most amazing pieces of writing EVER. Andrew Peterson and his friends tell the greatest story ever told like none other. BTLOG has gotten even better over time and that isn't even possible. My family will never miss this show if it is anywhere close and have a goal to see it in Nashville someday. Thank you for sharing this gift.

This version doesn’t move me

I listen to the original version several times a year, not just at Christmas. I get weepy at the end every time. I understand needing an update (not to mention distancing from Mr. Webb). Some of the updates are good (the instrumentals in particular). The reworking of the title track loses it’s original feeling in my opinion. I’ll be sticking with the original. Sorry, Andrew.

Also, if this is the version they’ll be doing live from now on, we’ll be skipping the tour.

An Amazing Reimagining

This album has been THE Christmas album for my family since my parents first attended the concert in Nashville in 2009. I can’t really imagine Christmas without it.
That being said, when we learned that it was being re-recorded, we didn’t quite know what to think. We weren’t sure about the change.
Now having listened to it, I think it perfectly matches up to the old one. Scott Mulvahill was a strong choice for “Deliver Us”, and Jess Ray added a cool new twist to “So Long Moses”. Jill Phillips still sings “Labor of Love”—it’s impossible to imagine anyone taking her place, honestly.
And the best part is that it’s not just a Christmas album—it’s an all-year long album. Just because it’s October doesn’t make it any less relevant or true.
