A brief review ,

Still holds up!!

I have been to many parties where synth pop did not work with the style of sound for the event.
To make a long story short, I went to a house, light techno party outdoors during summer on the waterfront ( Mr. Sunday ). They dropped the shep pettibone remix. Crowd went nuts, and I was like. How come I’m not implementing this into my sets?? Truly classic moment where all still holds up, and crowd gets lit. A definite purchase.

Shep Pettibone Cowbell Meets the Mode

As a disclaimer: the cassette version of this release spent a good part of the summer of 1989 in my Panasonic boom box. This was the music of the future as far as I was concerned. Depeche Mode found an electric guitar! The modern "hoe-down" sound of the Beatmasters Mix brought the otherwise defeatist lyrics of Behind the Wheel into a true roll-the-windows down and crank the volume expression of being a teenager in the late eighties. I imagined Route 66 was an idea Martin threw out while traveling the Music for the Masses tour. A singular tour bus shimmering in the Arizona sun. Ah, the fantasies of a youthful mind. Today, it's tough to listen through the mixes all the way through. But in single servings these rattling drum machine drones pack a hefty dose of nostalgia.

It's So Hard

After watching and listening to these guys for over 20 something years it is hard to point at a particular CD Album and say that one is the best. I enjoy playing along with this CD to warm up before I play.
