Derek Brown - Beatbox Sax

I've been playing saxophone all my life professionally. Still do make a living at it. My criteria for a historically great icon of a saxophonist in jazz/pop was to have a unique sound and improvisational concept of their own (eg: Coltrane, Cannonball, Desmond, etc.). Derek Brown is definitely in that category with some real innovation regarding his tonguing and use of harmonics in a melodic way that that truly makes sense and is wonderful to listen to.

Incredible talent and fun to listen too and watch.

I was so impressed seeing him perform live in Whitewater. Entertaining, and talented.

I was lucky enough to go see Derek Brown perform in Tacoma for his fifty fifty album which I also strongly recommend. An amazing sound with a twist. Good for just trying to focus or do work. If you want to try and play beatbox sax his YouTube channel has all the tutorials you need to get started and if you check out his website you can print sheet music to some of his songs and try to play them. I love this style of saxophone and I recommend it to all!
