Like 2012’s A Different Ship, the fourth album from Brooklyn-based Here We Go Magic is a soft-focus swirl of 70s-style art-rock reminiscent of Brian Eno before he went ambient or Genesis without the dragons. A cozy but densely layered album, Be Small’s warm production rubs away the hard edges of uptempo standouts like “Candy Apple,” and turns ballads like “Girls in the Early Morning” into sonic hot air balloons—pretty, distant, and featherlight.
