Like most 2019 soundtracks, Bala includes a couple of recreations, jumping onto the de rigueur trope with glee. “Don’t Be Shy Again” reworks British girl group Rouge’s 2004 smash. “Naah Goriye” turns Punjabi pop star Harrdy Sandhu’s 2018 hit “Naah” into a playful duet. “Tequila” isn’t a Desi version of The Champs classic, but an Indian brass-band boogie in the vein of Dev.D’s “Emosanal Attyachar”. And, of course, there are guitar ballads—one romantic (“Pyaar Toh Tha”) and the other philosophical (“Zindagi”).
