Christian but not corny...

Mars iLL has the uncanny ability to come across as legit while staying positive. The lyrics are smart and well delivered while the beats are undeniably underground but well produced. Stand out songs are "Breathe Slow", "Planes and Trains", and "Sunstep". Make no mistake, though, "Backbreakanomics" is an album you can play from beginning to end without skipping tracks. Finding Christian rap that isn't lame is tough, but Mars iLL proves that it can be done.

Manchild and Dust are NASTY! I don't feel every joint, but you can't deny the skill of theses dudes. Manchild is a real emcee, not a bootleg commercial cat, not that all commercial is wack. Just most commercial is. Peace

A step up and very real for christians who want substance.

For an intro Black Box Artist (Boom Bap) is the catchy place to start if you need to sample the talent. Other standout tracks are Piecemeal, Breathe Slow and 'Freeze'. The love of DJ Dust and old rock records is apparent but thank God it's along haul from "ah" and "fresh". These guys don't depend on anything but their ability, purpose, and their ability to hand deliver thier own brand of hip hop that is often raw enough to offend those with thin skins but not disrespectfully. Their a great combo that hopefully makes it back around someday. Yes there is am appearence from a Wu Tang member but it doesn't taint the soup or provide a slippery slope for these artists like so many "gospel" rappers that seem to stray eventually in such settings. They stand on their own and stand strong. In short, I dare you not to like it, maybe even love it.
