Stay Golden

Take a little Bowie flare, a little Oscar Wilde rogue poet, add a pinch of what made Alt-New Wave music great and stir with a vocal that stands head and shoulders above the crowd and you get AWOL by Kevin Max. Through a pledge campaign I have been listening to this album almost exclusively for the last 4 weeks. My personal favorite is “Cornucopia Of My Soul”. It is like mixing Bowies “A Space Oddity” and Queens “Bohemian Rhapsody” together is a most gorgeous way. At 3:10 to the end of the song is music GOLD.

Amazing!

This album sounds modern and retro all at the same time. Standout tracks including Eurorail & Cornucopia of My Soul. This album sounds to me like if you mixed Kevin Max with some classic Duran Duran & the Smiths. Highly recommended!

Nobody makes music like this anymore.

Kevin's voice is unique in music today, and it really shines here. His influences are pretty obvious, but he does a wonderful job of deftly sidestepping copycatting and instead comes off like he's respectfully paying homage to his heroes. I really can't think of another album out today that has this same sound and does it so well. Glory Boys and the title track are my favorites, but the whole thing shines. Great addition to Kevin's solo catalogue.
