Thank You

The preorder for Artemis downloaded successfully for me almost an hour ago, and I’ve since listened to all of the tracks. Lindsey Stirling’s music continues offering breakthroughs in her compositions and performances. What makes her songs so refreshing, the more albums she releases, is her ever-innovating approach without stagnation.

Sonically, the tracks have great variety. I can tell the difference between each after hearing them only twice. Some highlights include:

• Til the Light Goes Out is overflowing with textures from the bells, Lindsey’s most daring vocals yet, and her violin playing techniques.
• Lindsey’s singing in Foreverglow shows inspiration from her hero Amy Lee, and her lyrics give cause for reflection as well as meaningful hope.
• Masquerade is bookended with a seeming tribute to the silent film era’s piano accompaniment and sound of the film rolling, immersing one in the tone of a fictionalized past conveyed successfully throughout the song.
• The vocal performance and range shown from Amy Lee, in Love Goes On and On, are astounding and offer pure quality.
• Darkside‘s brilliant violin recording of a staccato-like background, syncopated with a violin performance of the melody, make this song another stand-out piece.

Feeling thankful for: iTunes providing the album, Lindsey Stirling for writing and performing in all of the songs, and for absolutely everyone who contributed to the release of this album. It truly was made “from a place of joy” (quote from School of Greatness podcast episode, released 9/4/2019, interviewing Lindsey Stirling). One may feel it, too, listening to these tracks in succession.

Okay....

My first thoughts on this album is that it was just okay, but after listening to it a little more it really deserves that 5 stars!!! My favorite tracks are Between Twilight, Guardian, and Aurora

Finally back to her basics

From what I have heard from the pre-release songs, it seems like Lindsey is getting back to her roots. This is extremely refreshing!!! I have been a fan since her self titled release, and VERY happy to see her return to that style!
