In 2012, Miguel had already broken through with the release of his debut album All I Want Is You two years earlier. As he prepped for his next one, he shared a trio of three-song EPs titled Art Dealer Chic that effectively closed one chapter and began a new, more experimental era for the singer. The first volume opens up with the majestic “Adorn,” a single that captures some of the best of Miguel's qualities—vivid lyricism and a voice that engulfs the ear in bliss. “That I Do [FTRMX Remix]” takes a sharp pivot towards brash electronic sounds before the final song, “Gravity,” scales back to a funky track that highlights his voice and, at the time, suggested his more guitar-driven, genre-bending ambitions that would manifest on later projects.
