If there were Pulitzer Prizes awarded for lyrics…this record would win.

This record is indescribable…but I’ll try. I’ve NEVER heard anything like it. Sure, you can hear his influences (mostly pure Delta Blues), and while the production is purposely simple and stark, it’s extremely interesting to listen to…which I find masterful. It has a sound all it’s own. The lyrics strike me as a complete contrast to the sound because they are anything but simple, and yet they fit together beautifully (dare I say genius?) I don’t pretend to understand most of what Mr. Jungklas is saying…but it’s just so damn clever…you can’t help but want to know. With a musical legend of a delta bluesman trading his soul to the devil as his cornerstone, it’s as if he wrote a short story based on that theme. If there were Pulitzer Prizes awarded for lyrics…this record would win. And then there is Mr. Jungklas’ voice…haunting and beautiful at the same time. This is grammy material in my book.

Great, but....

iTunes... call Mr. Jungklass and get his earlier album, Closer To The Flame, and get it digitized and available for download. Arkadelphia is fantastic, but Closer To The Flame is a true gem!!!

Please, please, please -- get Closer To The Flame!!!
