EDITORS’ NOTES

As a child growing up in south-western Sydney, B Wise had one modest goal: to be known throughout his zip code as a good rapper. That dream is reflected in the title of his debut album, Area Famous. The MC shares the story of his youth (“Feel Something”) while creating music that reflects the multiculturalism not only of his own family (his father is Nigerian), but the neighborhood in which he was raised. Merging skittering beats with R&B (“Flex On”), jazz (“Go Grrl”), and soul (“The Key”), B Wise’s early influences such as Tupac shine through in his smooth, street-level flow.
