Another Way Around - Single

Burnaby, British Columbia, singer-songwriter Luca Fogale grew up in the Catholic church, but had a reckoning of sorts once he hit adulthood. "I had some things happen in my life that made it difficult to keep aligned with the idea of there being a higher power,” he tells Apple Music. "I spent the last decade or so trying to sort out my life. And it's come back to learning how to find purpose and self-love.” That is, in essence, what “Another Way Around” is about: how a spiritual person finds meaning in life when the rug has been pulled out from under them. “It's a song that I wrote in reflection of the times in my life where I felt most alone,” Fogale offers. "And also the times when I didn't know what the purpose of being alive really was.”
The song’s opening lyric—"Trust me when I say that I understand/That believing in nothing is a lead-heavy hand”—is a sort of “brainstorm," Fogale explains. “The overarching question in those first couple lines is that it's just hard to live that way.” But, as the title suggests, there’s a way around that void. "It's all right here in front of us,” he says. "That's where I place the importance on the people in my life, and the people around us.”
