Gotta love it

I never rate anything a perfect 5-star but this is mighty close ... maybe a 4 1/2. As a born and raised Myrtle Beach music fan and a radio DJ of 5 decades, this is a MUST HAVE for all beach music fans! Not only does it include ALL of Ballard's REAL hits but they are the very same ORIGINAL hits that made them so ... just like listening to a brand new 45 rpm slab of wax I played on the air when these songs were brand NEW! Does it get any better than Finger Poppin Time? It goes from there to even a few cuts that, in the mid-60's, I could only play after midnight such as Annie had a Baby (and my Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts 45's). If you're an east coast beach music nut like me ... lay back, close your eyes, and turn up the volume and relive the Pavilion, Sloppy Joes, and the girls, food, cold draft beer and footlong hot dogs, surf and salty air, shagging at the Beach Club, and the summer times and romance this music talks about.

Although Gusto Records has a reputation for re-recordings, for once they've licensed the Hank Ballard ORIGINAL VERSIONS! It's amazing [and sad] that some of the cheesy re-recordings available elsewhere are listed as more popular than these originals. There is also a 10 track Hank Ballard Gusto CD of originals available on itunes with slightly better sound fidelity.

That Filthy N***** Bop Music

Yes, this is it. The southern segregrationists picked up on this stuff and warned white kids not to get involved, We DID, and we LOVED it.
