EDITORS’ NOTES

Once known as the backing band for black-metal stalwart Ihsahn, Norway’s Leprous have grown into one of heavy music’s most daring songwriting outfits. On Pitfalls, vocalist and keyboardist Einar Solberg draws out an operatic and soulful vocal range ("Distant Bells"). The album opens with the slow-burning, string-heavy "Below", setting the pace for electronic flourishes. "Alleviate" may be aggro, but Pitfalls is largely experimental ("Foreigner") and grand in scale ("The Sky Is Red").

This is what I’ve been looking for.

The dedication to unique music is insane with this band. The entire album is phenomenal. Distant Bells is my favorite; it builds up so perfectly and effectively and leaves you with a high so great you will never forget it.

Don't get me wrong....

Leprous has my utmost respect, they are a truly unique and wonderous group. However, not really that keen on this direction(having heard only two samples). Einar has an incredible voice there is no disputing it but seems as if the focus is growing toward only showcasing IT and not the power of the rhythm section. I'm open to being wrong about this.... I just miss the POWER of Leprous from around the time of Bilateral, etc. I remain a fan, of course.

Love it!

This album is good and the band and vocals are amazing. I am new to Leprous, but I am really enjoying this album. Great work!
