Few bands conjure up the blue skies and green valleys of the Golden State as vividly as Dawes. On this, the California foursome's fourth album, the rolling, crystalline piano lines and spot-on harmonies of the title track recall Laurel Canyon mainstays like Jackson Browne, and the soft-grooved “Waiting For Your Call” is a breezy bit of ’70s Americana. And while the gorgeous finale “Now That It’s Too Late, Maria” runs nine-plus minutes, it still feels like it ends too soon.
