12 Songs, 55 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

A folkie with an indie rocker’s heart, Lady Lamb the Beekeeper (Aly Spaltro) takes a confident leap with her second studio release. After isn't as raw as her debut, but the album does have a similar sense of urgency and abandon. It also boasts some exhilarating arrangements that show her progression from solo multi-instrumentalist to capable bandleader. Her powerful voice, a bright and expressive instrument, rings out across these songs. Swooning and soaring, she delivers dense, metaphorical lyrics laced with images of ribcages, gristle, UFOs, and melted Milk Duds, all adding up to an album that’s arty, accessible, and full of surprises.

Lyrical confusion, but voice and beats killer

Love your voice, beats and creativity, but just cannot connect with the random lyrics--maybe its too random or over my head, but it sounds like you just picked sentences out of a hat and I listened to all your songs. Still sounds good, but distracting.
