Raising the bar

Once again, The Brilliance releases an album that raises the bar for creativity in spiritual music. This album is very much in the same style as their previous releases, but has a bit of a fresher sound in its more up-tempo songs. It feels very much like an anthem, a celebration, with the same feel as the up-tempo songs from Sufjan Stevens on the Seven Swans and Illinoise albums. Lift Up Your Eyes will receive heavy rotation in my mix, year round. Give this a try if you're tired of the same traditional Christmas songs and you'd like to have something new this season.

The "Second Coming" of Advent

With their second Advent themed release, The Brilliance does not disappoint with the intricate songwriting and classical nuances that are evoked on all of their previous releases. This is one collection that should not be missed. (Get all the other ones, too!)

"Joy to the World" is quite the refreshing take on the classic carol.

If you get a chance to see them live, by all means do so!

Advent, Vol. 2

Love this band...their heart...their strings. Seriously, listen. You're welcome.
