Editors’ Notes Cellist Mischa Maisky has never been afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve, and slow music brings out in him a generosity of spirit that’s hard to resist. For Adagietto, he gathers around him his pianist daughter Lily and, on the live recordings, artists including Martha Argerich, Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, and Sascha Maisky. The result is a delicious feast of classical pops from the Adagietto of Mahler’s Fifth to a couple of genuine piano quartet movements via Baroque lollipops and operatic arias. Everything’s done with the lightest of touch and oozes fun among family and friends.
