Editors’ Notes Nektar were always a tough band to pin down; they were Englishmen who operated out of Germany, and their sound mixed elements of psychedelia, prog, hard rock, and space rock. They had their biggest U.S. success with 1973's Remember the Future but first made worldwide waves a year earlier with A Tab in the Ocean. The album's first half is occupied by the epic title track, which encompasses everything from Wagnerian guitar riffs and baroque organ lines to Moody Blues–like vocal harmonies. The second half offers more concise cuts like the low-key, jazzy "Desolation Valley" and the more straightforward, hard-rocking "Crying in the Dark."
