EDITORS’ NOTES
On their third holiday album, the a cappella crew breathe new life into seasonal classics like “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas,” the latter of which features legendary jazz vocalists The Manhattan Transfer. The band also cover one of their generation’s defining holiday anthems: NSYNC’s 1998 smash “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.”

AMAZING
This album is soooo amazing!! I love how they have everyone singing the leads throughout the album- better than I could ever imagine!
Well... It's Ok.
Let me preface this by saying that I am a hard-core Pentaholic, and love their work. However, this Christmas album was not on par with their previous one. By no means was it bad (all the members have amazing talent!) but it wasn't something to listen to on repeat like their last albums. The songs seemed predictable in arrangement, with it corresponding in styles nearly exactly with the last albums (Sugar Plum Fairy vs God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark the Herald Angels Sing vs O Come All Ye Faithful, and White Christmas vs It's The Most Wonderful Time are the most obvious). The original songs are trite at best, juvenile at worst. I expected better now that they have an original album under their belt. To be honest, they sound like they were written as an afterthought. The song choices are not what I would've chosen. Hallelujah is NOT a Christmas song, and an *NSYNC song? Really? Perhaps they've run out of songs after so many Christmas albums in short succession. The classic songs and more traditionally written songs like "That's Christmas to Me" seem to resonate more with people (see Mary Did You Know) However, I do appreciate the more even distribution of solos, especially Kirstin's chance to shine. She is the most underrated and least utilized voice, so she deserves more solo work and proves that she can lead a song amazingly (Good to be Bad, Hallelujah). Ultimately this album is disappointingly weaker than their last ones, although there are a few improvements, and I hope the next album is a better one!
Tl;dr Just buy the other PTX Christmas albums unless you're a Kirstin fan. ( Kirstan! ;) )
Craziness
I love christmas and the holidays in general and Pentatonix so I always always look forward to this time of the year! It's got a little of everything and just such a good flow!!
I highly recommend buying the album and loving it! :)
