I love this album!

I'm on my 3rd listen right now. For an album that's only 24 hours old that's saying something. To me, this is hands down his best album since Illumination. His voice does not age and either does his songwriting. No matter what he puts out it always manages to sound fresh. That's why he's the Mod God. BUY THIS ALBUM!

A little bit of a mixed bag, but still good

I really enjoyed Paul's last two records. I feel like these aren't bad songs per se, but Weller took some calculated gambles that don't always quite pay off. Not to say there's anything especially wrong with this album, but for me it's not his strongest release. It's tone is a bit more on the light side. That can work for and against the album at different times. My two favorite songs are Hopper and New York. The Cranes are Back has a great finish, but an awkward beginning and middle section. One Tear is interesting, but feels a little under developed. Same with some of the other songs. It just doesn't feel as focused as Saturns Patern. I do love the general idea behind the album, and it really fits the times as a good answer to our current climate in a great way. Definitely give it a few listens, but if your just getting into Paul Weller, stick with Wildwood/stanley road/Heavy Soul/Saturns/Sonick Kicks.
