Robben continues to deepen his craft...

I love this record! Robben is not merely an inimitable, incendiary and soulful guitarist of the highest caliber...he has proven himself to be an exceptional songwriter and artist as well. "A Day in Nashville" is filled with great tunes and stunning performances and is a near equal to my two favorites of Robben's studio records, "Truth" and "Bringing It Back Home". The band here is tight and energetic, but the group chemistry is not as obvious as on "Truth" or "Soul on Ten" (in my opinion, Toss Panos IS THE drummer for Robben...As a side note, I am hoping that the trio Robben had with Travis Carlton & Toss Panos will make more records together-WOW! they are a force of nature- check out their 2007 Rockpalast performances as well).
One more thing, Robben's vocals get better every record..."Midnight Comes Too Soon" is one of his finest tunes and will likely become a kind of blues standard. If you have enjoyed any of Robben's recent records, "A Day in Nashville" is a no-brainer.
