Silky R&B crooner Phil Perry has had a long and distinguished career as a solo artist and leader of The Montclairs, as well as a guest vocalist for Fourplay and Najee. This is to say nothing of his ubiquitous studio work with a galaxy of top-tier stars. Standouts here include the smooth “Feelin’ You” (with excellent trumpet work from Rick Braun) and the soulful ballad “Sorry I Let You Go.” It's more than just elegant babymaking music; there are message songs here in “Stand Up” and the title track as well. Excellent new versions of his own “Dreaming’s Out of Season” and Curtis Mayfield’s “Gypsy Woman” and “I’m So Proud” round things out nicely.
