11 Songs, 31 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

There’s an undeniable laidback scrappiness coursing through McBriare DeMarco’s appealing first full-length record. But for all 2’s sun-bleached guitars and gonzo flourishes—hushed, acoustic closer “Still Together” even ends with the unedited sound of DeMarco rousing his girlfriend—it still punches above its weight and 31 minute length melodically. “Dreaming” has an irresistible, hazy sweep and “Robson Girl” is a hypnotically jangly reminder that, when it comes to playing guitar, this slacker is no slouch.
