12 Songs, 44 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

No trendy gimmicks, no clickbait, just Rick’s unique voice pouring forth. 50 marks the British soul man’s half-century milestone and he’s in a thoughtful mood, revealing hard-earned truths on “Keep Singing” and “Angels on My Side”. Time has lent his voice a dusting of grit, which sounds great over the blues-rock riff of “Somebody Loves Me” and the show-stopping piano ballad “Pieces“.

He still has it!

What a great album. Ballads, uptempo songs and they all tell a story. His voice is silk! Welcome back Rick.

HES BACK

I knew he would never give us up. Keep Singing is such a good song though I'm loving it!

Infectiously perfect

Just based on the two intro tracks so far, Rick Astley has benefitted immensely from the passage of time. His voice is richer, his experience shows, and it’s all just…better. I thought he was “ok” back in the day, but this? This is something else. “Angels on my side” is one of the most infectiously joyous songs I’ve heard in years. It’s been on repeat for a couple days now.
He was always more than just a meme (although the grace and humility with which he handled the whole “Rickroll” thing was downright inspirational) and this proves it. I hope this album goes stellar, he deserves it.
We need more class and style in Pop, and this man just delivered us a gift wrapped lorry-full.
