A producer/rapper/singer from Los Angeles, Terrace Martin was born into the game, thanks to his musician parents and a lifelong love of both jazz and hip-hop. He's been working behind the scenes for many years now, concocting beats for West Coast vets like Snoop, Warren G, Kurupt, and Murs, as well as younger cats such as Nipsey Hustle and Glasses Malone. In recent years, he's dropped a gang of quality mixtapes and EPs, including Here, My Dear, The Sex EP, and 808s and Sax Breaks. His first proper solo album, 3ChordFold, is a near-perfect blend of golden era–influenced boom-bap, laid-back jazz vibes, low-key R&B, and sunny California hip-hop. Fusing live instrumentation with traditional beats, freaky synths, and trunk-knocking bass bumps, the musicianship is outstanding throughout, supporting strong rhymes and crooning from Martin and guests like Musiq Soulchild, Robert Glasper, Ab-Soul, Lalah Holloway, Kendrick Lamar, Problem, and Snoop. It's overflowing with immensely likeable jams; don't miss "Happy Home," "I'm for Real," "Triangle Ship," and "No Wrong, No Right."
