I don’t know why this 1980 set didn’t catch on the way the “Year Of The Cat” and “Time Passages” albums did. Al continued writing good songs with historical narratives and an air of mystery (“Constantinople”; “Running Man”), as well as love songs like the top 40 “Midnight Rocks”(an all time favorite) and “Rocks In The Ocean”. Al also adopted some more rock-like production on some tracks. For me “Mondo Sinistro” is the only weak spot, though it’s silly fun. Definitely worth purchasing!

I think this is his most underrated album. Great writing. Awesome guitar. Should have gotten more recognition. There are record company creations and then there are true artists with something relevant to say. Coolest thing is he does his own thin in his own style. True innovator.
