Mississauga, Ontario, pop singer Johnny Orlando was a wee 12 years old when he released his first EP, 2015’s VXIIXI, so naturally there’s been a fair bit of growth that’s taken place in the years that followed. His third EP, It's Never Really Over, is his most mature outing to date. While the previously released “Everybody Wants You” and “Phobias” are grown-up reflections on jealousy and approaching new relationships with the caution of the recently brokenhearted, it’s the new songs here that really chart Orlando's emotional evolution. “Bad News” and “Flaws” both find him taking a long look in the mirror, signaling where that next stage of personal development might take place.
