Then Terius Nash, reigning master of the intersection between breathtakingly tender and insatiably horny R&B, has got your back. Over Ménage à Trois’ remarkably captivating two-and-a-half-hour runtime, Nash stretches out and gets real comfortable: On the slinky, silky “Challenger,” he does the absolute most to steal a girl from her deadbeat boyfriend, and on “Pull Out,” he borrows subtly from trap cadences for a salacious ode to…dubious modes of family planning, shall we say? In short, the thing’s an R-rated blockbuster; there’s no other songwriter who can pull off Nash’s signature blend of sweetness, pettiness, humor, and straight-up raunch with something resembling subtlety. If he’s not in your conversation for current King of R&B, you’re probably going to want to rethink that.
