Exile is an adventure in sound. The powerful fusion of electronic and acoustic envelops the listener from the blurred, hazy atmospherics of “Astronaut in the Rising Sun” to the trance-like, frenetic “Pianodiscoteque” that sets the post-classical ambient sound at the heart of a club. In “Grace,” pianist/violinist Luca d’Alberto—the sole performer on Exile—shows his deft ear for texture with violin lines that interweave and grow organically, while “Love Song” cocoons the listener in a panoply of beautifully rendered colors.
