About Rita Marley
Best known as the wife (and later widow) of reggae icon Bob Marley, Rita Marley is a singer who has enjoyed a successful solo career. Born Alpharita Constantina Anderson, Rita was raised in Jamaica, and sang in a group called the Soulettes before meeting Bob Marley, marrying him in 1966, and joining his group as a member of the I Three's, a trio of backing vocalists. The year before Bob's death in 1981, Rita released her self-titled solo debut, and continued releasing albums through the '90s and 2000s. Her discography includes WE MUST CARRY ON (1988), GOOD GIRL'S CULT (1990), PLAY PLAY (2004), and GIFTED FOURTEEN CARNATION (2006). She also manages Bob Marley's estate.
