Founded by lead singer and songwriter Teri Owens, and largely inspired by her staunch Rastafarian beliefs and morals, Lioness’ sound is rendered unique by the employment of instrumentation drawn from outside of reggae’s normal canon, notably Janet Irvine’s flute. Their ‘cultural’ lyrics are equally refreshing, a return to the roots flavour that has been overshadowed by modern dancehall tastes.
