About Carnage
Carnage has played a central role in bridging contemporary dance music with rap, showing how the two styles can coexist one bass drop at a time. The Guatemalan American DJ and producer, born Diamanté Anthony Blackmon in 1991 in Guatemala City, started his career in the late 2000s crafting hip-hop beats for emerging acts such as Katie Got Bandz before crossing over into the then-nascent EDM scene. Carnage stood out by being among the first major names mixing buzzy electronics fit for the festival main stage with trap-inspired beats. He’s also helped directly link the sounds by creating big-tent-ready tracks for hip-hop heavyweights to rhyme over, such as 2014’s “Bricks” with Migos and 2016’s “Mase in ‘97” with Lil Yachty. Carnage made this genre fusion commonplace and continues finding through lines between them by working with a new generation of MCs or linking up with fellow producers.
