For much of the ‘00s, New York rapper Saigon's The Greatest Story Never Told was rumoured to be a true game changer project by industry figures and artists alike. Unfortunately, despite signing to Atlantic Records, the album kept being pushed back. When it finally dropped in 2011, its impact was a muted one, even with production from Just Blaze and a co-sign from JAY Z. Nevertheless, Saigon's words always hit home as he balances street-hardened anecdotes with the sort of political and social consciousness that cast him as one of hip-hop's truly uncompromising artists.
