Moenia: Influences

Moenia were a wonderful anomaly in ’90s Mexican pop, zigging when everybody else was zagging. They fell in love with the synth-driven rock of bands like OMD, Depeche Mode and Erasure in the late ’80s, and that melancholic DNA flowed through their veins when they began recording in the ’90s. Their cavernous, brooding dance music takes its cues from soaring alt-rock classics like The Cure’s “Fascination Street” and The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now?”
