And although he's completely capable of transforming a standard when the spirit moves him, it doesn't hurt that he is a killer composer. Whether Porter is serving up a cool, jazzy ballad or a burning, R&B-infused stomper, those warm, oaky pipes of his always make you feel like you've wandered into a welcoming place.
